Applied Engineering and Mighty Studios to Co-Host Calibrate ’26: A South Bay Studio Crawl
Join Applied Engineering and Mighty Studios on September 17 for an evening celebrating the people, ideas, and technologies shaping the future of physical products.
Applied Engineering is excited to join Calibrate ’26: A South Bay Studio Crawl on Thursday, September 17, 2026, alongside Mighty Studios and several other organizations across the South Bay.
Calibrate is designed to bring together the region’s product development community, connecting industrial design, engineering, manufacturing, hardware innovation, and the people turning ideas into physical products. The event will take place from 4:00–8:00 PM across multiple locations in San Jose and Mountain View.
A Collaboration Between Design and Manufacturing
As part of the crawl, Mighty Studios and Applied Engineering will co-host an open studio in San Jose, giving attendees an opportunity to meet both teams, explore the space, see prototypes and projects, and learn more about the product development process.
Mighty Studios brings expertise in product development, industrial design, and engineering, while Applied Engineering brings decades of experience in precision manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, new product introduction, and production support.
Together, the two companies represent an important part of the journey from early-stage product concepts to manufacturable, production-ready hardware.
Visitors will have the opportunity to connect with both teams, see the work happening behind the scenes, and discuss the challenges involved in taking physical products from an idea to reality.
Designing the Physical Future
This year's Calibrate theme, "Designing the Physical Future," focuses on the emerging technologies, material innovations, and new ideas shaping the products people will interact with in the years ahead.
For Applied Engineering, that focus aligns closely with the work we do every day with product development companies across industries including robotics, medical devices and life sciences, clean technology, semiconductor equipment, and other emerging technologies.
Innovation doesn't stop when a prototype is complete. Turning a successful prototype into a repeatable, scalable product requires collaboration between designers, engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, and other partners throughout the product lifecycle.
Events like Calibrate create an opportunity for those communities to come together and share ideas.
