Questions defense and aerospace teams ask us
Can Applied Engineering build ITAR-controlled assemblies?
Yes. A dedicated ITAR quality manual governs how we manage ITAR-controlled assemblies, parts and technical data, from quotation through shipment and record keeping. Compliance is reviewed in management reviews and confirmed through internal audits.
How do you source parts for defense programs?
Non-catalog parts for ITAR work are purchased only from ITAR-registered suppliers. Every ITAR part requires a Certificate of Conformance and is inspected on receipt; ITAR parts are never delivered dock-to-stock.
How do you prevent counterfeit parts?
Our counterfeit-part prevention plan follows the guidelines of SAE AS5553. We buy directly from original manufacturers or their authorized distributors whenever possible, and independent distributors are used only after a documented search for authorized sources and with approval from Quality and Supply Chain management.
What does a First Article Inspection package include?
A First Article package typically includes a parts listing, any revised manufacturing drawings, and inspection reports from AE and its suppliers, along with customer-specified certifications, test results and any approved deviations. Suppliers are notified of First Article requirements on their purchase orders, and Quality reviews and approves the package before shipment.
How long do you keep test and inspection records?
Test data and First Article records are retained for at least ten years. Controlled data is stored on backed-up corporate servers, never on individual workstations, and paper records are kept in protected areas.
What certifications do you hold?
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016, and ITAR work is managed under a dedicated ITAR quality manual.
